We are open during COVID-19 and we’ve taken extra precautions — creating a safe place for a getaway!

Our COVID-19 Cleaning Protocols

We have instituted new cleaning protocols due to the pandemic, that will allow you to rest assured Nettles Farm is safe for you and your family. All blankets and bedspreads have new washable duvet covers, so that all bedding can be washed after every stay. Common surfaces will be disinfected, and we have installed a Green Tec 3000 air sanitizer in each suite. This unit is overkill for the suites, and can sanitize anything in the rooms open to the air within 24 hours. Plus it ionizes the air to give it a clean, fresh and energized feeling. Our cleaning staff uses sanitizers, gloves and masks when attending to the rooms. There are no common rooms shared between the suites, also there are no shared heat vents or other air systems, so there is no possibility of unwanted interaction. Each suite has its own utility systems: the Farmhouse has heated air, the Farmhouse Suite has radiant floor heat. The garden and the beach allow for easy distancing while enjoying everything we have to offer. While we have never charged a cleaning fee, as almost all places do, due to the increased cost of these protocols, we have added a surcharge of $100 per stay.

Nettles is naturally poised for social distancing. This year we have planted more vegetables in the garden, to enjoy during your stay. Good air, good water, and good food. Bring your good energy and have it all!

A San Juan Island Experience — Where Farming, Fishing and Gourmet Cooking Meet in One Place

If you love the San Juan Islands, you will love Nettles Farm Bed & Breakfast — because it is the embodiment of a true San Juan Island experience. Here you will find a place where farming, fishing, and gourmet cooking all come together—in one place. It’s a great place for romantic couples, families with children, and large groups to kick back, enjoy Island life, and cook great meals with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, such as in season fruits and vegetables, and fresh fish, caught by local reefnet fishers.

The Kitchens

Come prepared to COOK!!

The kitchens at Nettles Farm Bed & Breakfast are well stocked and designed for real cooking, and we provide simple but very good ingredients for a delicious, farm-fresh breakfast that you can prepare for yourselves. There are covered decks for gathering, and cozy spaces for living, relaxing, socializing and playing. Each side has its own kitchen garden, with fresh greens and herbs, in addition to tomatoes, basil, kale, and other greens growing in the greenhouse.

Each side has its own pizza oven, and pizza kits are available. Make it a team sport!

FarmHouse Suite has a WoodStone oven inside, and a Big Green Egg outside, in addition to outside seating that allows for plenty of social distancing if necessary.

FarmHouse has a large modern kitchen inside, and a gas grill and Bertello pizza oven outside, in addition to plenty of outside seating for safe gatherings.

Walk to the Willows Inn

Nettles Farm is a short walk to the world acclaimed Willows Inn, where award-winning head chef Blaine Wetzel delights customers with dishes that are “fished, foraged, and farmed.” Beginning this year, you can contact the Willows yourself to reserve a table. The 2 week window that has been in effect for so long has been lifted.

While You’re There

Nettles Farm Bed & Breakfast offers many charms and a chance to feel what it is like to live on a farm. The elegantly casual accommodations are tastefully decorated and furnished with all of your comforts in mind, including a well-equipped kitchen with a wood fire oven, walk-in steam shower, soaking bathtubs and doors that open onto the gardens.

Time your stay for one of the workshops that take place at the farm. Currently, our workshops include making ikura from Reefnet Salmon roe, butchering chickens, and making pizza dough. You can read more about them here.

Among the many things to do on Lummi Island, visiting the reefnet gear is very popular and interesting. Nettles Farm owns a reefnet gear, which is leased by the non-profit, Salish Center for Sustainable Fishing Methods. By going to this website you can sign up for a tour of the gears (from July 20 through Oct 1), a trip around Legoe Bay and even to Clark Island (June 15 through Oct 1).

A trip to the Nettles Farm will be a memorable experience for you, your family, and your friends. Book your reservation now!
